Yesterday one of the greatest artists of our century died. Luciano Pavarotti. I know most of you aren't that much into classical music but I adored his voice. His "Nessum Dorma" is my all-time favourite. I will really miss him. A pity I never got to see/hear him live.

If you could travel back in time to spend a day with someone, who would it be and why?

Rudolf Nureyev. I always wanted to see him dance live, but he died in 1993 (I was 9 at that time). He's said to to have a very strong and complicated personality and I adore his passion and dedication for his profession. It would just be interesting to get an insight into the life of a dancer, especially someone so popular and hard-working as he was. And to see the man behind the superstar. He did so much for ballet dancing (like new choreography) and he gave so much pleasure to his audiences. Apart from that, he was an exile - spending all his life being on the road. I would love to talk about that too. it must have been both physically and mentally exhausting.

My lovely friend Juana from Spain was in Vienna this week but we were both so busy that we couldn't meet. But she somehow managed to sneak in today and put a little gift and a note in my mailbox while I was at work! How sweet is that?! It was a pretty green fan with floral pattern. So cute!

Off topic: My job interview went great! YAY me!

Actually it has been on August 8 (in France) but everyone, including me, forgot about it. It's not such a big thing anyway, but my mom insists on 'celebrating' them. She felt a little guilty for forgetting about it - especially since she made quite a scene when I forgot to compliment her first thing in the morning on her nameday. (And hopefully for dropping things on my toes as well... duh!) I got very posh flowers from her, with red roses - she knows I love them. We always dry the bouquets... And self-knitted socks in different shades of green. I love my mom's socks, they are the best. I'll get mittens from the same wool now as well since there was enough left over. Lucky me!

Fan of my name?

Last night my mom did the washing up. She put all the dishes on a huge pile to dry. And our huge (and heavy, I can tell...) glass casserole fell down. Amazingly it didn't break. Rather painfully it landed on my toes (because I had no free hand at that moment) which are now blue and swollen! And it hurts a lot. Why is it always me?

The UN Secretary General. I've always wanted to know what exactly the duties and responsibilities of this position were. You're in charge of so many things and so many people. How do you handle the pressure?

I got myself 2 pairs of pretty ballerinas: actually it's the same style, in black and chocolate-brown! They are pointed with a little lace at the front! Really cute and, even better, not expensive. I had to fight hard not to buy yet another handbag - there were so many cute ones! (I already have about 50+ at home and no space left to store them up... *whispers*) I feel so much better right now. Shopping always lifts my spirits! hehe

Insects and worms. That's just gross and disgusting, especially those who eat them alive. Eeeek!

After a day off - national holiday - I feel much better. Relaxing in the sun all day long certainly did me some good. It's probably been tha last day off for yet another month. It also makes me even more impatient... I'm longing to go to Tuscany (view our little villa) but I have to wait until September 8. SIGH. But it made me think...

IF YOU COULD GO ON HOLIDAY RIGHT NOW, WHERE WOULD YOU GO?

I'm at my worst today. I'm really moody and bad tempered ever since I got. I've had a terrible night, tossing and turning, and sitting in front of a computer screen all day long doesn't really help. I have very light-sensitive eyes and I'm starting to feel it. Plus a slight headache from the change of weather again. A 38h shift, 5 days a week - and no weekend to recover because I'm working too. I just hope it pays off. If it weren't for the money...

EDIT: I'm feeling really sick now. It's either the weather or a virus... or both, with my kind of luck! :(

Yesterday I was informed that my best friend Lilith has had yet another operation on Sunday. She has a very rare form of cancer, I don't even know the exact term for it but they needed a specialist from New York. I haven't heard from her yet but I hope she's alright... as alright as one can be after such a thing. It makes you think about how precious life is... All those silly "problems" I keep complaining about seem rather irrelevant now!
